Yesterday my mate Dave asked me if I sell compatible Videojet printhead nozzle and how much is it. The printhead nozzle actually works well, but the oozing ink makes it impossible to work any longer. So Dave wants to buy a new, cost-effective printhead nozzle. After setting the new printhead nozzle up, he will take some time to repair the leaky but still working old one.

When Dave tells me his intension, I mean, why not just buy the sealing and screws to stop the leakage problem, we can sell them seperately, which may be enough to help with Dave’s Videojet problem.

Dave reckoned it’s a good idea, so he bought a sealing with four screws, together with a compatible printhead nozzle, to keep the production line flowing while he repairs his old nozzle. Let’s wait and see how Dave fix the printhead nozzle.

To buy an inkcore or an inkcore board, that’s a question. It’s easy to install an inkcore, but costs more; Whilst an inkcore board cost less, but will it fix my Videojet problem?

Don’t worry, let’s have a look at your inkcore first. If it works fine, the only problem is running out of service hour, then replacing the inkcore board is a more cost effective way to make your inkcore work again.

However, if there are more problem other than lack of service hour, we may need to replace an entire inkcore. We could choose either refurbished or original new inkcore for an standard black ink printer, such as 1520, 1620 model. For color pigment printer, like 1710, we’d better buy a new inkcore, for color pigment is stickier, a refurbished inkcore will not last long enough.

A new customer James asks about our compatible Videojet V410-D ink and V705-D make up. I send pictures of the printing effect, quotation, and most importantly, stating that our ink and make up, even though compatible, are 100% not with funny odour, because we use import raw material to produce the liquids by ourselves.

James seems pleased with our liquids, but then he pops up a qustion that no one ask before, how are the liquids packed? And James gives me some pictures for reference. Please kindly check below pictures.

To be honest, I don’t know how the liquids are packed. I remember that there was a complaint about our cartons are not strong enough before, then we reinforced the packing to support the liquids, no complaint ever since and I simply let it slip. Since James brings it up, I head to our liquid workshop to have a look. Here is how we pack our liquids and a close up picture of our support carton.

Is it difficult to maintain a pump by ourselves?

It depends, if you are not a tech and just want to try fix the pressure pump, we could purchase a whole set of pump head with motor. It doesn’t require much work, as long as we pin point that it’s the pump which leads to the failure, we can fix the problem by replacing a new set of pump with motor. However, it cost most.

As you may know, the motor seldom goes wrong. The pump head, on the contrary, usually worn out easily. We can tell if the motor working or not by hearing, if the motor vibrates a little and generates a small noise, it’s working fine. Then we just need to replace the pump head.

If we really want to challenge ourselves, we can try fix the pump head by replacing the gear kits. The gear kits worn out and causing the pump fails to work, but it takes some experience to change a new set of gear kit.

My customer Jack bought a 9450 touch screen last week, when he received it, he found that both the LCD and touch screen are ok, the size fits perfectly. He is satisfied for basically everything, apart from the connector. It doesn’t match his printer.

Jack shows me his connector, which is with 4 cables, while the one I sent him is with 3 cables, so despite the touch screen is fine, he is not able to connect it to his printer.

After getting the feedback from Jack, we work on it asap. It turns out that there are two types of connectors for Markem Imaje 9450 printer, usually it’s with a 3-cable connector, but for some batches, it’s with 4-cable connector. So our tech spend some time to work on the connector, now we have 4-cable connector touch screen too.

When you receive our refurbished inkcore, it may have one or two problems. Don’t worry, most of the problems are minor and caused during the bumping transportation, only small checkings will fix them.

I get a feedback from my customer Tom recently, he told me that the newly arrived 1520 inkcore isn’t working, there is no reading from the pressure pump, then he replaced another pump, the problem remains. It seems tricky, but actually, all we need to do is to check two spare parts.

1. Check the inkcore board. To see if it’s properly wired.

2. Check the pressure transducer

If all the tubes on inkcore board are correctly connected, then we have to look at the pressure transducer. As you can see in Tom’s case, the pressure transducer is cover in ink, the problem is most likely lying here. Tom freed the pressure transducer out by gently move it from right to left little by little, then cleaned it with solvent. We can see there is a small damage on the transducer, which fails to send the pressure pump data to main board. After we replace the pressure transducer, the refurbished 1520 inkcore works again.

Refurbished Videojet inkcore may suffer from all sort of small problems during transportation, such as sealing parts come off and leads to ink leakage, the connection on inkcore board gets loosen, all these we can fix it easliy. When we comes to the more complicated problem, we could try to fix it by replacing another part or return the inkcore to us, we will send you another one or refund it.

“Hi friend, need this for my Hitachi RX printer, please quote”. I know Eddie for a while, he has a Hitachi RX in his workshop and maintains it from time to time. Despite we receive a picture only, we know Eddie is asking for a transducer, then we quote and proceed the order.

I know you guys are busy with the continuous inkjet printer maintenance work, sometimes need to drive for a long time, which is time & energy consuming. It’s actually fine, that you send us pictures of the parts that need to be replaced while you are doing the maintenance work. We could quote to you asap, as most of the spare parts for continuous inkjet printers are easy to recognize. For example, if I saw your hand holding a filter, and there was a Videojet printer in the background, then I will know you are looking for new compatible filters, maybe a filter kit. However, this way doesn’t work on boards.

There was a customer, who poured a stream of board pictures to me & required quotation. I can quote some of them, however, some inkjet printer boards, despite their configuration look the same, the prgram in it is different. It’s quite irresponsible to drop a price without stating the detail of the board. So for boards, please do tell us for which printer model it’s applied on first, if we need more info than that, we will proceed accordingly.
